Light

• Bright, indirect light is ideal. It’ll tolerate lower light conditions but thrives in medium to bright filtered light.
• Avoid direct sunlight—it can scorch the delicate leaves.

Watering

• Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Check the top 1-2 inches of soil and water when it feels dry.
• Use filtered or distilled water, or let tap water sit out overnight to remove chlorine and fluoride—Calatheas can be sensitive to these.

Humidity

• High humidity is key! Aim for 50-60% or higher.
  • Use a humidifier, mist the plant regularly, or place it near other plants to create a humid microclimate.
  • A pebble tray with water underneath the pot can help too.

Temperature

• Keep it cozy! Temperatures between 65–80°F (18–27°C) are best.
• Avoid cold drafts, air conditioning, or heaters—Calatheas hate sudden temperature changes.

Soil

• Use a well-draining, rich potting mix. A blend for tropical plants or one with peat moss and perlite works well to retain moisture without getting soggy.

Fertilizing

• Feed it with a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during spring and summer.
• Skip feeding in the fall and winter when the plant naturally slows down.

Pruning

• Regularly remove any yellowing, browning, or damaged leaves to keep it looking fresh.

Pests and Problems

• Common pests: Spider mites and mealybugs. Wipe down leaves and treat with insecticidal soap or neem oil if needed.
• Leaf curling or browning tips? Usually a sign of low humidity or inconsistent watering—adjust as needed.
