Dracaena Rikki 6”

Dracaena Rikki 6”

 Light:

Bright, indirect light is ideal for Dracaena Rikki. It can tolerate lower light conditions, but the colors may become less vibrant.

Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves.

 Watering:

Allow the top 1-2 inches of soil to dry out before watering. Dracaena prefers to be on the drier side rather than too moist.

Water less frequently in the winter when the plant’s growth slows down, but ensure it doesn’t dry out completely.

Soil:

Use a well-draining potting mix. A standard houseplant mix with added perlite or sand for aeration works well.

Good drainage is crucial to prevent root rot.

Temperature:

Dracaena Rikki thrives in warm conditions between 65-80°F

Keep it away from cold drafts and temperatures below 50°F

Humidity:

This plant prefers moderate humidity levels. It can tolerate average household humidity but benefits from higher humidity.

If the air is too dry, especially in winter, consider misting the leaves or using a humidifier.

Fertilizing:

Feed with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer).

Reduce or stop fertilizing in the fall and winter when growth slows.

Pruning and Maintenance:

Prune any dead or yellowing leaves to keep the plant looking tidy.

You can also trim back leggy growth to encourage bushier foliage.

Repotting:

Repot every 2-3 years or when the plant becomes root-bound. Choose a slightly larger pot with fresh, well-draining soil.

The best time to repot is in spring, as the plant is actively growing.

Propagation:

Dracaena Rikki can be propagated through stem cuttings. Cut a healthy stem segment with a few leaves, let it callous over for a day, and then place it in water or moist soil until roots develop.

Pests:

Common pests include spider mites, mealybugs, and scale. Regularly check your plant for signs of pests and treat infestations promptly with insecticidal soap or neem oil.

Toxicity:

Dracaena is toxic to pets if ingested. Keep the plant out of reach of curious pets and children.
