Philodendron Jose Buono 6”

Philodendron Jose Buono 6”

1. Light

Bright, indirect light is ideal. Too much direct sunlight can scorch the leaves, while too little light can reduce variegation.

If indoors, place it near an east or north-facing window or filtered light from a south-facing window.

2. Watering

Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil feel dry. Overwatering can lead to root rot.

Ensure the pot has drainage holes to prevent waterlogging.

3. Humidity

Thrives in high humidity (60-80%). Consider a humidifier or pebble tray if the air is dry.

Regular misting can also help, but avoid over-saturating the leaves.

4. Temperature

Prefers temperatures between 65–80°F. Avoid cold drafts or sudden temperature changes.

5. Soil

Use a well-draining, airy potting mix, such as a mix of peat, perlite, and orchid bark.

Adding charcoal or coco coir can improve drainage and aeration.

6. Fertilizer

Feed with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer).

Reduce feeding during fall and winter.

7. Pruning

Prune as needed to remove dead or yellowing leaves.

Wipe leaves regularly to keep them dust-free and allow for optimal photosynthesis.

8. Repotting

Repot every 1-2 years or when it outgrows its pot. Use a pot slightly larger than the current one.

9. Support

As a climbing philodendron, it may benefit from a moss pole or trellis to support its growth.

10. Pests

Common pests include spider mites, mealybugs, and scale. Wipe leaves with insecticidal soap or neem oil if needed.
