Snake Plant 10"

Snake Plant 10"

Variety

Comes in varieties: Laurentii, Zeylanica, & Moonshine. Stock varies.

Light:

Bright, Indirect Light: Snake Plants prefer bright, indirect light but can tolerate low light. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves.

Watering:

Infrequent Watering: Allow the top inch or two of the soil to dry out completely before watering. Typically, this means watering every 2-6 weeks, depending on humidity, temperature, and season. In winter, reduce watering frequency, as the plant is dormant.

Humidity:

Low to Average Humidity: Snake Plants are tolerant of low humidity levels. They thrive in average household humidity (30-50%) but do well in drier conditions.

Temperature:

Moderate Temperatures: Ideal temperatures range from 60°F to 80°F. Protect the plant from temperatures below 50°F  and avoid cold drafts.

Soil:

Well-Draining Potting Mix: Use a well-draining potting mix, such as a cactus or succulent mix. You can also create your own mix by combining regular potting soil with perlite or sand for better drainage.

Fertilization:

Minimal Fertilization: Fertilize sparingly during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced, diluted fertilizer every 4-6 weeks. Avoid fertilizing in fall and winter when the plant is not actively growing.

Repotting:

Every 2-3 Years: Repot every 2-3 years or when the plant becomes root-bound. Choose a slightly larger pot with drainage holes.

Pests:

Monitor for Pests: While generally resistant to pests, keep an eye out for spider mites, mealybugs, and aphids. Treat infestations with insecticidal soap or neem oil.

Propagation:

Offsets or Leaf Cuttings: Propagation can be done through offsets (pups) or leaf cuttings. For leaf cuttings, allow the cut end to callous before planting in well-draining soil.

Additional Tips:

Toxicity: Snake Plants are mildly toxic to pets if ingested, so keep them out of reach of curious animals.
